These works, through their restraint and tissue-paper thinness, showcase the delicacy of a burgeoning idea, as it is caught on paper in the moment before it disappears. For this series, initial sketches (a series of two-sided studies of New Mexico landscapes Thaïs visited in 2021) were recycled into new compositions via a sequence of reimaginings. The final compositions, suspended in tissue-paper like abaca, are both fragments of forgotten ideas and the exciting beginnings of new thoughts.
