Thoughts | In this series, Thaïs pursues interests already at work in Vignettes and Scripts: the effect of environment and medium on self expression, the evolution of thoughts and ideas over time and across different contexts.
While making Thoughts, she continues to incorporate different set rules into making. Here, her creative process is structured around key turning points in the composition: stages where the pieces are suddenly and fundamentally transformed.

The Thoughts artworks are textured shapes nested within vibrant clouds of cotton and translucent abaca layers. These reinterpreted fragments began as inked landscape drawings from hiking in 2021. On the back of these Thaïs added loose, stream of consciousness drawings indirectly linked to their nature-inspired side. The resulting double sided pieces were then intricately cut up into reductive compositions which she reassembled onto her handmade paper compositions.

One sided drawing to two sided cutout shapes and then to the final artwork. Each stage evoked new ideas, and the resulting associations of delicate shape and color have opened up a vast array of future explorations to Thaïs.
